About me

Things not mentioned in my bio. I am a mother of two children who are 15 years apart. I was married at a young age which ended in divorce. My second marriage I just turned 30. I had my youngest at the age of 35 which labeled me a geriatric pregnancy. I never went to college until the age of 40 and did it all at the University of Phoenix online. My biggest challenge in life is raising a child with physical and mental disabilities. It took me 20 years to write my first book. I wrote it and rewrote it and procrastinated about getting it published. I got discourage the first time from a rejection letter. Then this year I decided it was time to self-publish. I love connecting with lost family members and finding new ones. You never know you just might be in my family tree. :o)

Chapter 7

CHAPTER 7

Between the years of 1981 and 1983, many things happen to the family. When they moved into the trailer Morgan was thirty-one, Kelly was thirteen, Brian was twelve, and Amber was eight. After the divorce, Morgan felt very lost and was unsure of the future. She had to work full-time at the university to support her family on her own. She also did not know what to do with her spare time when she had some. While she was married Morgan never went out with any friends or had any kind of social contact with her family members, including her brother. For a while, she worked several shifts to make ends meet and did not care about her social life. Soon loneliness set in.

Morgan contacted one of her friends from high school named Lisa and they started hanging out again. Lisa had a bad reputation for adultery and alcoholism. Lisa was a tall, busty, skinny lady with ginger-colored hair. Lisa had a rough look to her because she was a very heavy smoker, which made her appeared older than she was. You could always count on having a good time with Lisa, she was a lot of fun and could be very dangerous to mess with. Her husband, Randy was a very brawny man. If anyone would even think of hurting her, he would beat the living-crap out of them. He was possessive and loved her dearly. Loving her as much as he did, he would let her get away with anything. His love was unconditional, and he would not lose his home or family because of her actions. Randy acted like he was naïve to her ways.

Morgan also became friends with a woman from work named Nicole. Nicole had some of the same characteristics as Lisa. They both liked to drink and party. Nicole was not married and did not sleep around a lot. Her looks did not say much for her. Nicole was a very tall woman, a little on the heavy side, with short salt and pepper hair. She refused to dye the premature graying hair. Nicole’s eyes were a unique ocean blue, hidden by glasses. She was not one to date often. She was more concerned with being self-sufficient and was not ready to share her life with anyone completely. Nicole spent plenty of weekends with Morgan and the children. She had a good heart and loved Morgan’s children from the moment she met all of them. Nicole would take the children swimming and for picnics, while Morgan was at work during the summer months. They would all go out together on Morgan’s days off work. It was as if Morgan’s children were her children too. A co-worker at the university once mentioned that Nicole may have been a lesbian, she was divorced, and her husband had left her for another woman. In Morgan’s eyes, Nicole was just misunderstood and was dealing with a very bad break-up. She knew that Nicole had considered them family and did not believe there were any other types of intentions. Morgan was not concerned with Nicole’s sexual preferences as long as she never tried to make a pass at her.

Morgan’s appearance changed after her divorce, she had shed off all the extra weight she had gained while she was married. Her body was unbelievable; she had lost sixty-five pounds and cut her hair to reflect the current style. Morgan also, bought new clothing to flaunt her figure and she now looked and felt great. She was now 115 pounds, with an upper body that was still amazing. After having children, her breasts were no longer perky and they sagged a little. When she put on a push-up bra no one could tell the difference. Her new style was a dramatic change from before. Morgan used to wear big clothes, her hair was very long and straight, and she looked very plain. Now she was all decked out, she wore heels, short skirts, and revealing tops.

Morgan’s friend Lisa was very social in the bars and took her to all of them. Lisa ended up going home with other men even though she was married to a wonderful husband. Most times Lisa would tell her husband she was too drunk to come home and would be spending the night at a girlfriend’s house. Morgan would agree to her story and Randy would not know the truth. Morgan was at first uneasy about going to the bars. She had never been to a bar before, knowing her ex-husbands were at the bars when they drank. Morgan soon realized the environment was much different than she had anticipated. She liked going and did not always spend all her time there with her friend Lisa.

Morgan figured out a way to make money when going out to the bars. When men would buy her drinks, she would accept and later cash in the chips for money. Sometimes she would go further and bring a man home. Morgan did not think the children knew she was bringing men home. The children were asleep in their beds when she would arrive home very late at night. If the children woke up she would make the men leave for a while and return later. Morgan worked for the money and gifts she received from the men. In the morning, she would make them leave before the children got up to get ready for school, or she would hide them in her bedroom until the children had left for school. Most of the time the kids knew there was a man in the house and what was going on behind their mother’s door. One time Morgan was not careful. Brian and Amber found a man’s wallet on the table along with his coat and shoes in the living room. All Morgan told them was that she had a friend over who got too drunk to go home. Morgan never had regular customers, unless she got emotionally involved, and those feelings did not last long.

The neighbors where Morgan lived began to pick up on what she was doing at home to make money. The name calling and accusations began to fly and got back to her children. Morgan was known as the “trailer prostitute.” Then a bizarre thing happened; at night a strange man would wander around looking into people’s windows all throughout the neighborhood, otherwise known as a “Peeping Tom”. One time Morgan caught him looking into her children’s bedroom window and called the police. The police came out to investigate, but when they got there the man had vanished. This happened again when Morgan had a customer. This time it scared her, and she was unsure of what to do. She decided to attend a community meeting, although, no one took her seriously. The other ladies began to pick a fight with her and tell her what had been said about her and that she deserved it for what she was doing in her home. Morgan was mortified just enough to stop prostituting. Several weeks later the police caught the “Peeping Tom” in the act and took him directly to jail.

Chapter 6(Part 2)

They were well-disciplined children, to say the least. Michael constantly beat the children and his wife. The children never knew what he did to their mother until many years later. He would beat her at night when the children were asleep, so they would not hear her cries. Morgan got pregnant more than once and had several miscarriages due to the beatings. She never told Michael because she was afraid of what he would do and what he was capable of. She was at times, glad that it happened because she could not fathom the idea of bringing in another child into this world who would inherit his traits. Morgan was not strong enough to leave this man. He supported her and her children. He provided them a place to live, fed them, and put clothing on their backs. The children were also getting wonderful grandparents that would never be replaced. His parents could shield the children from some of the beatings that took place. Amber was shielded the most because she was still the baby. The other children were not so lucky. They got beatings for everything they did wrong in this man’s eyes. Michael beat them in his rage with whatever his hands could reach for at that moment, including metal spatulas. His favorite thing to use was the dog leach or leather belts. He would make the children touch their toes as he whipped their backsides. If they did not obey him, they got another whipping. The children were very frightened of this man. The dog was treated and loved more than Morgan and the children were. This man also may have sexually abused or molested the oldest child, Kelly. Morgan took many different types of physical and mental abuse from this man. Over time Morgan’s appearance began to change, she was no longer the slender attractive woman she used to be. The hardships were beginning to show on her physical appearance and well-being.

Morgan got a part-time job at the local university to help with the expense of building the new house for her family. A lot of her and the children’s blood, sweat and tears went into the construction. He had them go into the woods to pick rocks for the fireplace and carry heavy brick cement blocks for the foundation. It tore Morgan apart to see Michael use her children as laborers. He told her the work would build character and that the children would grow up strong, just like him. Morgan knew she was at the end of her rope and had to do something.

One night after Christmas Michael had come home drunk, stumbling around outside and telling some other woman to be quiet or they would get caught. He hoped that no one was home. Michael, himself, was being so loud. You could hear him laughing about the situation he had put himself in. He told the other woman that this was his house and who gave a shit if the bitch was home. Morgan was home. She heard the commotion outside, closed her eyes and ignored him. She knew full well that he would not be able to find his keys and the other woman would end up going home. Michael had passed out in front of the door. He awoke to the house phone ringing. It was the woman from last night. He tried to keep cool responding as if it were work calling. He apologized for being late; he did not realize the time. He told the person on the phone he would leave for work right away. Hanging up he went to make himself presentable. Morgan knew it was the other woman. There was no way that his boss would be calling on a Saturday. In fact, his boss had called the night before to wish the family a happy holiday. Telling Morgan, he would see her husband on Monday morning. When Michael left, she did not say a word. Morgan was relieved he would be gone all day. That night after he got home, the phone rang again, and he ran for it saying it was for him. Morgan left the room, went to the bedroom and picked up the other line. Later that evening she told him she had heard his conversation with that woman and if he intended to bring her into their house that she and the children had helped build, he had another thing coming. Michael just laughed at her and asked her who she thought she was? Her answer was simple; I am no longer your wife. Morgan had decided to file for a divorce. He raised his hand to her. She told him to go ahead and hit her. Afterwards she would go to his parents and then to the police. He told her that she could file for divorce and not to expect to get anything out of him. He then asked her who she thought would desire her since she had become so fat and ugly? No man in his right mind would want a woman with extra baggage. Three unruly and misbehaved children would run off any other man that might be slightly interested. At least his new woman was thin and beautiful with lots of money who came from a prominent family. Inside Morgan was laughing at him because she had gotten what she wanted. Michael had just given her his permission to leave. This was her family’s ticket to freedom.

When Monday came, Michael had realized what he had done, and it was already too late to change or fix the situation. After work, he came home to find his bags packed and a note to tell him to go to his parents’ house. He knew that he had to do as Morgan had asked. His parents would get involved and take her side because of the grandchildren Morgan had provided them. He looked up at the house and his face reflected the resentment he had felt for his actions. Michael called for the dog and put his bags in the truck and left. At his parents’ house, he talked openly and honestly with them and told them what had happened. The amazing part was it was the same story Morgan had told. In the light of things Michael knew he had to make things right one way or another, so he agreed to the divorce. He bought Morgan and the children a trailer to live in and moved them into a nice trailer park within the same school district. He even paid for the first few months’ rents.

In the divorce settlement Morgan could have anything she wanted. Morgan could even keep the house or sell it. Michael would switch living arrangements with her if it came down to it. His parents’ home was only a block away and that is where he would be staying until he could find a place of his own if she decided to sell the house. The exterior of the house was completed. The custom designed kitchen that Morgan had created was finished. However, there was still a tremendous amount of the interior either halfway done or not even started. She did not have the money to finish the house. Morgan decided to let Michael keep the house because it held so many unpleasant, painful memories for her and the children. Michael let her keep all the furniture and whatever she wanted out of the house. He insisted on keeping the dog.

After everything was completed, the divorce and the move, Morgan called her parents to inform them of what had transpired. Morgan explained to them the situation behind the divorce and told them not to worry. She would be fine because Michael had provided her with a trailer in which to live and paid the first few months’ rents. They could now come and visit their grandchildren if they wanted. Morgan took some time to examine her life and was at a loss. She knew she had to once again do something different, getting pregnant all these times had a bad effect on her body and she was afraid of what could happen if she ever got pregnant again. Morgan scheduled an appointment with her doctor and got her tubes cut and tied.

Chapter 6 (Part-1)

CHAPTER 6

Morgan’s time being single was temporary. It did not take her long to find another man. She lived a short time with her aunt, then was asked to move in with her grandmother, and finally was sent back to her parents. Morgan was frustrated with moving her children from one place to another. She decided it was time to move to another town, away from her family. Her grandmother had given her some money to buy an older trailer that was placed in a trailer park in a semi-decent neighborhood with reasonable rental lot rates.

One late summer evening, Brian and Kelly’s father, Adam, escaped unnoticed from prison. Adam’s parents had kept him informed of the whereabouts of his family. He came to the trailer park that Morgan and the children now lived in, with the intentions of taking his children and killing his wife. He thought he could kill her and take his children back to his parents and raise them himself. Adam had no idea he and Morgan were divorced and that she had remarried and had another child. Moments before Adam came to the trailer park Morgan could feel her hair sticking up on her arms and she had the feeling something was not right. She told her two girls to hide under the table. Brian was sleeping in his room. Morgan heard some wind blowing and the trees rustling against the trailer. She became very jumpy. Suddenly Adam smashed in the door window with a baseball bat and reached in and unlocked the door. Morgan told her children to stay under the table and to be quiet. She grabbed a table cover just in time and threw it over the table before Adam could see them. Adam yelled at her and told her he had no intentions of hurting the children just her. Brian woke up when he heard the noises and walked into the living room. Morgan ran to grab him out of harm’s way. She was too late. Adam saw her intentions and got to Brian first. Brian was not afraid of his father. He was a little confused about why he was there. Adam talked to him calmly and told him he was going to take them away from the bitch who put him in prison. He was going to take them to their grandmother’s house. Brian was unsure of what to do; he looked from his dad to his mom. Then Adam lost control. He was not winning; he felt like his children did not know who he was. He became outraged and began to break things with the bat. Adam tried to get Brian to join him by telling his son it was fun and that he should do it too. It was so much fun. The bitch better not try to stop him or he would take the bat to her head next. While Morgan was protesting, Brian took the bat from his dad and told him, I will do it. After Adam gave him the bat, Brian turned to his mother and gave her the bat. Seeing this, Adam got even angrier and yelled at Morgan accusing her of turning his children against him. He pushed Brian out of the way onto the floor and grabbed Morgan. He was going to kill her even if he had to throw her out the window. With all the commotion, the neighbors had become aware of the situation and called the authorities. The police showed up in time before Adam could seriously harm her. The police immediately handcuffed Adam and took him back to prison. Another police officer finally arrived with Morgan’s parents. They took Morgan to the hospital for treatment and left the children with their grandparents.

The man Morgan was seeing was named Michael, they had started dating shortly after her divorce from David. When Michael found out what had happened, he was furious. He went straight to the hospital to comfort Morgan. He tried to get information from the authorities on Morgan’s behalf. The authorities could not tell him anything without either party’s permission. After Morgan was released from the hospital, she investigated the circumstances of the attack. It was her business to take care of things, not Michael’s. Adam was put into a guarded cell and watched closely everywhere he went. They told her not to worry about this happening again. This time he would be closely monitored with no visitations and revoked privileges. Adam would be re-evaluated and put on different medications to stabilize his thinking and mood swings. He would also be required to attend therapy. Morgan kept in contact with Adams family, so she could be updated on the situation and his status within the prison. While he was in prison Adam had to pay child support for both his children until they turned eighteen. His sentence could be shortened on good behavior. Adam would not be released from prison until Brian’s twenty-first birthday.

The relationship between Morgan and Michael started to get serious. Michael was staying overnight more and more, insisting that he move in to keep her safe. Morgan did not consider this a good idea right now, needing some time to think it over. Michael was six years younger than her; he was a charmer with good looks, a man of average height and muscles. He had dark blond hair with a beard and mustache, blue eyes and wore glasses. He came from a comfortable upper-class family with few worries because they owned their own business. Michael thought he could buy his way into people’s hearts. He got the children everything they wanted; all they had to do was ask. He was trying to buy the children’s affection and thought he could win Morgan in the same way. Michael had a great job as a contractor. In order to support his lifestyle, he was still taking large amounts of money from his parents. He had a lot of growing up to do.

Michael worked hard to win her over, convincing her that he could provide a better life for her and her children. Morgan allowed him to move in temporarily, just long enough to help pack up their things, sell the trailer, and move them to another home with him. During this time, David had come to visit on Amber’s birthday with his new girlfriend. David wanted to be the one to tell his daughter that mommy and daddy were getting a divorce. When he saw the new man Morgan had, all David could do was glare. He somehow blamed this all on Morgan and this new man in her life who was going to give her the world. He did not see the true picture before his very own eyes. David knew that he was going to be replaced by this man and would probably never see his daughter again. He had to make this visit last a lifetime. He decided to take both Amber and her brother Brian out for her birthday. While they were out, they went to visit his parents at the farmhouse. David’s new girlfriend decided that it was time to cut Amber’s long blond ringlets because they kept getting in the way, her patience for this child was beginning to fade. After visiting his parents, David took the children to the Super Store, where he bought Amber a new birthday outfit. David tried to use the print on the outfit to explain the divorce to his daughter. David was not sure if Amber was too little to fully understand. The shirt had a little girl fishing; he told his daughter to keep the shirt and that someday he would return to take his little girl fishing. Shortly after the shopping trip, it was time to take the children home to their mother. That was the last time Amber would see her father until several years later when she went looking for him. As time went by, David became a faded memory locked in the past that was never truly forgotten.

It did not take long for Michael to pour out all the charm and get his way. On their official move-in day, he bought Morgan a puppy. Shortly after, Michael asked Morgan to marry him and she said yes. They decided their current dwelling was not big enough for them. Michael wanted to build a house for them out in the country, not far from town. A house nearby was up for sale and his parents bought it. This way they could be close to their son and his new upcoming family. Michael parents were good people. They did not buy other people’s affection with money; they had realized that spoiling their own son was bad enough. They did buy Morgan’s children presents because they had become quite fond of them and loved them deeply. It was nothing new to them to have adopted grandchildren in their lives. They embodied the true meaning of grandparents and loved the family unconditionally. The new house was three-quarters built by that summer when Morgan and Michael got married in the woods behind the house. The marriage only lasted for about three years. She had not realized what she was getting into when she agreed to marry him. Morgan was looking through rose-tinted glasses at the beginning of their relationship. He had told her up front very clearly that she and the children would have no contact with her parents, since his parents were good to her and the children. They loved her, and his family now was her family. In the long run, Michael did protect Morgan and the children from the abuse that would have been inflicted by Harold. He, however, did not protect her or them from the abuse he would inflict.

Chapter 5

CHAPTER 5

Things stayed unchanged until 1971 when Morgan turned 21 and was reunited with David. Morgan had dated David in high school and had forgotten him as the years passed. David came from a family that did not have much in material value. They lived on a farm, which had been passed down from generation to generation. At one time Morgan’s relatives had lived on the same farm. It had been transferred from one family to the other. David’s family was familiar with Morgan’s family, and over the years David had kept up with her life. He knew she was now divorced with two small children. David was not certain he wanted to take on an immediate family and the trouble associated with that family.

David was a tall good-looking man with dark auburn hair and hazel eyes. He was a well-groomed man. He did not have the money to buy stylish clothing. After all, he was a farm boy who could not be bothered with popular fashions or trends, which made him a little rough around the edges. David could barely finish school with all the jobs he had on the farm. He knew completing school was important and so was family. Helping his family with the bills and the farm was his priority. He never played sports or had any interest in after-school activities. It was a fluke that he even went out once with Morgan in high school.

David ran into Morgan at a local grocery store and asked her out on a date. She said yes, and that one date turned into many more. David was under the impression Morgan was on birth control, so he did not have to worry about her getting pregnant. Morgan decided to stop taking birth control; knowing how much family meant to David. Even though he had accepted her two children, Morgan believed getting pregnant would secure their relationship. This was the only way to trap a man. There were also rumors about the family that appeared questionable. All of David’s friends and family warned him about dating her. Morgan was from an upper-class family whose father was well known for his work in the community, with the expansion of the local college and hospital. Most of the area where they lived was farmland. It was slowly developing into a town with big expensive homes and luxurious automobiles. There was money to be made in developing the farmland into a town with a university that would become one of the highest rated schools in the country. Morgan’s father, Harold was instrumental in making the community what it is today. David’s family did not know much about Morgan herself. David did not care for what people had to say about Morgan or her family. He was already in love with her.

Morgan had known David in high school he was a few years ahead of her. She had known him much longer than her first husband Adam. Morgan began to have second thoughts about trapping this man because she remembered what had happened last time. She did not stop taking birth control. Instead she wanted to test the waters. She told David she was pregnant and waited to see what he would do. Morgan figured either he would marry her or deny the responsibility and leave. If he did leave, she would just tell him she had a miscarriage. Morgan did not know she was indeed pregnant while being on the birth control pill. Once Morgan told David she was pregnant he weighed out his options and decided to marry her. David had been taught to always take care of his own and to take responsibility for his actions. He knew he had no choice and hoped he would not regret marrying her. Morgan and David were married on the farm the next month. This marriage was nothing fancy like her marriage to Adam because she had been married already and had two children and one on the way. Morgan also did not want to tell her parents until after it was all finished. David’s family was overjoyed for him and liked Morgan as soon as they had met her. David and his parents had no problems with accepting her other children from a prior marriage. They took them in and loved them as their own. Brian and Kelly loved the farm with the cows and horses. They lived there temporarily until David rented a house closer to a job he obtained in another town. David was tired of farm life and wanted to do something different. He wanted a fresh start for his own family, a place where they would not be burdened with Morgan’s history or bothered by her family.

One month after the wedding, Morgan stopped taking the pill and had a miscarriage. Morgan was glad that she did because she was not sure who the father was. She did not want to tell David about the miscarriage because he would be greatly heartbroken. Morgan knew she had to tell him, so he could share the grief of losing the baby. To her surprise, David took it well and was more concerned with her health. Several weeks later they agreed to try for another baby, once she was feeling better. David loved children and wanted a house full of them. His mother and father both came from large families and he had grown up with many brothers and sisters. His mother came from a family of thirteen children and his father came from a family of fourteen children. Plus, there were many cousins and other relatives. David wanted the same type of family life for himself.

It did not take long for David to move them into a rental townhouse in Hamptonville. They decided not to tell her family about the miscarriage or the move until one week before the moving day had arrived. Morgan’s family did not know what to think or feel. Richard was happy for his sister, he hoped that this marriage would last. Maybe if Morgan was lucky she would not have any more hardships. Richard offered to help them move. He was now seventeen and for the first-time Morgan realized her baby brother was growing up. He was already a senior in high school and would be turning eighteen in the fall. Richard was one of the only immediate family members Morgan would truly miss.

Morgan and David settled into their rental home in Hamptonville and started concentrating on having a so-called “normal” family of their own. They loved each other very much and they were content with their lives. Morgan conceived a child that May. David loved the other children and wanted to adopt them as his own. Morgan finally delivered David’s baby in March. This birthing process had turned out to be the worst experience she had ever gone through. She had three false labors. Morgan was taken to the hospital each time and sent home without any progress. The fourth time she did not even want to go to the hospital. Morgan was miserable and yelled at David, the baby was to be born on March 1st not fourteen days later. Although David was not home at the time, he convinced her to go to the hospital and that he would meet her there. Morgan went reluctantly with no plans to deliver this baby. This time, however, the labor did not stop, and Amber was born. Something went wrong after the birth, Amber’s weight dropped, and she was given a blood transfusion. Amber did not improve much, and she was placed in an incubator with all different types of tubes and IV’s in her little body. She was a full-term baby, and the doctors did not have many answers for Morgan as to what had happened.

Morgan started to cry and drift in and out of consciousness. Morgan needed to be stabilized so that they did not lose her. Morgan did not know that David was in the hospital. David paced outside her room waiting to speak with the doctors, trying to get answers for himself. No one would tell him what was going on, all he saw were people running in and out, passing quickly in front of him with all types of machines. When he saw them wheel in the incubator he was furious that no one had said a thing to him. David was now worried he might lose his wife and newborn baby. Finally, a doctor came and told him that his wife was stabilized and that he could see her, yet, they were uncertain of the baby’s prognosis. Morgan was kept in the hospital for a week, Amber had to stay much longer. She was suffering from yellow jaundice and had problems breathing. Things were slowly improving as the baby’s vitals began to normalize. Amber stayed in the hospital one full month before she was stable enough to go home. The problems with Amber did not end after she came home from the hospital. Amber had problems eating solid foods and not long after it was discovered that she was anemic. Morgan had to slowly inject shots of food down her throat to give her nourishment. Many times Amber would vomit back up the injected food. This lasted for several weeks and Morgan was beside herself. Morgan had no family to turn to for help and her husband was not home very much, always out working odd jobs to make money. Morgan had no choice. She called her mother and asked for some help. Morgan’s mother came for an extended visit to help with the feedings. David was not delighted with the outcome of having Vicky, his mother-in-law staying with them. He was pleased by how the baby was responding positively to her grandmother.

Morgan and her mother began to put the past behind them and started talking to each other again. They talked about all the mother and daughter things that needed to be said and about how their stubbornness had kept them apart. Some things were never discussed, neither of them could accept or forgive the bad things that happen in their lives. For now, it was all water under the bridge. Morgan never told her mother about her father or uncle. Morgan did not want her mother to change back into that jealous and envious person. For the first time, in a long time, the two of them were close again. The years passed quickly, and before long Amber had turned two years old. Morgan continued to have a relationship with her mother and visited often when her father was not home. On occasion Morgan would force herself to visit with both her parents. This way she would not cause any unwarranted harm to befall upon her mother.

One day, Morgan decided to pack up all her belongings and leave her husband. David was at work, several hours away from home, when she left. Morgan could no longer take the abusive behavior, the drunkenness, money problems, and lack of commitment to their relationship. David had become an alcoholic and was aware he needed to get help, although refused to get any. Before it escalated to a point of no return, Morgan decided she needed to leave to keep her children safe. Morgan could not go through the same pain and torture she suffered from her first husband. She now had three children to keep safe. This made things more difficult and left her with fewer places to turn for help.

When David got home that night, the house was empty. He found a note that she and the children were going to stay at her Aunts Ivy’s house. He went looking for Morgan. David was unsure of where her aunt lived. He went to her parents’ house looking for his family. When he arrived there, no one would give him any information. David refused to leave the premises until he could talk to his wife and see his daughter.

Morgan arrived a few hours later and they began to fight outside, causing the neighbors to stare. Her parents threatened to call the police and get a restraining order on him if he did not stop. Morgan asked him to leave; he agreed, if she would answer one question. He asked her if that is what she wanted? Morgan said yes, fighting back the tears because she deeply loved him, just not the man he had turned into. Morgan knew what type of hell she would be walking into and wondered, would she be able to protect her children from Harold? David left in a rag and did not return until a year later to see his daughter on her third birthday.

Chapter 4

CHAPTER 4

Morgan was back to square one, although now with two small children. Her mother was thrilled to have them back home. Vicky would help raise the two children. She told Morgan how much fun it was to raise her and Richard when they were babies. That was the key thing, her mother loved children when they were young. It was too much for her when they became teenagers. Her father was also great with little children until they reached the age of puberty. When they were beginning to mature and become impressionable, he would use the skill of manipulation to molest them. Morgan knew this living arrangement had to be temporary for the safety of her children. Morgan would take the abuse from Harold if he did not abuse her children or let them know what was happening in the house. Her mother became blind to her daughter and husband’s relationship and interactions. Vicky had the grandchildren to fill the void, temporarily. Vicky was completely devoted to the grandchildren and thought that maybe she could start her life over with them. Richard was now fourteen and was helping to take care of his niece and nephew. He liked helping his older sister and the children were fun to play with. Richard learned a lot about babies and how to take care of them, he began to understand what parenting and raising a family should be about. Morgan began to look for work and somewhere else to live before all hell broke loose in the family again.

Harold decided that they could no longer afford to support a family of six instead of three because it was becoming too expensive. He gave Morgan some money for a place of her own and told her to leave. For the first time in her life, Morgan had no plan for what to do or where to go. She did not know where this road was going to take her.

The job Morgan had at the library gave her a steady paycheck. Although these earnings were not enough to take care of all the incoming bills or the babies. She decided she had to do something. One thing Morgan was certain of; men would pay good money to have sex with women. Especially young women who would not ask for any commitment or try to ruin their lives if they were married. She tried to push that idea out of her mind because she did not want to stoop that low. Morgan did not want to ask her father to help her out because it would mean she would have to do whatever he wanted. She began to date all different types of men. They would take her out and buy her things and give her money. Morgan managed to pay off her loans and began to stash away money for another rainy day to come. Somehow, she had become a prostitute and did not even realize it. All she knew was that she had to pay the bills and keep food on the table for the babies. This became very tiresome and she just wanted to settle down and live a somewhat normal life.
